Life is not a straight line. You don’t go from A to B without diversions, and more important, you may know where A is, where you are standing right now, but you don’t yet know what B will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You know what you care about. You know what you are good at. But you don’t know what comes next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is where I am now. And I have been here before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being here is not the same as being lost. Lost means you don’t know who you are. I know who I am. I am a father, a husband, a builder, a thinker, a writer, a friend. These things don’t disappear when the direction is unclear. They are what holds you upright while the picture comes into focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The absence of a clear direction is uncomfortable in specific ways. Not like drowning. More like standing in a huge empty room, waiting for something to appear in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U2 wrote a whole song about this feeling. I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For is not a song about failure. It is a song about someone who is still searching and still moving. The searching only stops when you stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The moment of clarity never arrives while you are sitting still. It arrives when you are in motion. It shows up in a conversation you weren’t expecting. It emerges from a problem you stumbled into because you were already moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep working. Keep talking to people. Keep paying attention. Keep searching.
Trust that what you are looking for will find you.
But only if you are already walking toward it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
