Meeting with an old friend

The other day, I went having a bite with an old friend, Alberto M.

He was in London back in the days, and we were part of the same accelerator but then he left the city to move to Zurich.

He’s a couple of years older than me, and he told me that a few years after leaving the city, he got married with his long-lasting gf.

And then, about two years ago – actually 1 year and 7 months, he was very precise – they got a baby.

As you can imagine, he is now in his prime time and all come with a cost. And he spoke about that, from the heart.

“I knew I wanted a baby, but at that time, at my age, I was okay if he didn’t come, but then when he arrived, I had an epiphany: what would I miss if I never had a baby!”

That’s what he said, and I think that sums up basically everything, literally.

Kids, I gave you life, you provide me purpose and a new set of eyes.

I look at the world, at life, and things happen around us from a different perspective, and for this I want to thank you. You made me a better person.

I love you both, with all your differences, you are my unique stars!

With love, Dad.
